Woman happens upon accident where her own mother was killed

A fatal accident can be just the beginning for the victim's family. Loved ones are consumed with grief and left without companionship. They may also be left without that person's support and income.

Recently, a 44-year-old mother of two was killed in a tragic car accident in Jacksonville. According to news reports, a 70-year-old driver ran a red light and collided with the woman's car. Police said she swerved, apparently in an attempt to avoid the crash, but struck two other vehicles. Two other people were treated for minor injuries.

The 70-year-old driver and his passenger were being treated for serious injuries. Police said he may have had a medical episode before running the red light.

In a heartbreaking detail, the 44-year-old woman's adult daughter happened upon the scene of the crash and recognized her mother's car. Bystanders had to pull her back as she tried to run toward her mother.

Nothing can change the past and take away the pain a family suffers when it loses a loved one in an accident. However, the financial costs that come with a fatal accident are very real, and very serious for many families. If the accident was the result of another driver's negligence, the victim's family may be entitled to compensation for these and other damages through a wrongful death lawsuit.

These legal actions are technically and emotionally difficult. They take a long time, and there are many deadlines and legal roadblocks along the way. It is important for grieving families to learn about their legal options by talking to a skilled and compassionate lawyer with experience in personal injury and wrongful death.
